The council and business district worked together on this project to showcase what Guildford city centre were offering shoppers and visitors across the festive season, including a present trail for kids and adults alike, late night shopping, Christmas markets and a giant inflatable snow globe! For the shoot we took the GH5 out on the gimbal to get dynamic shots around the town, this handheld approach makes the video viewer feel like they are walking the streets of Guildford with us. To add an extra festive feel, we added a snowflake flourish transition, and an audio bedding featuring sleigh bells. To ensure that all the key messages are conveyed, we implemented on-screen text styled in Christmas present tags throughout the edit, using advanced post-production techniques such as motion tracking, camera tracking and rotoscoping to give the impression that the tags are in the physical space to add an extra magical touch. This approach also has the benefit of being read and understood when the video is played without sound on mobile devices and social media.
What’s on in Guildford? Christmas 2021
As a collaboration between the Business Improvement District and Guildford Borough Council, Experience Guildford approached us to create a video to promoting all the festive activities and events around the city centre for locals and shoppers visiting the centre.
"Aside from making the whole process as easy as possible for us, we couldn't have been happier with the end result and were really impressed that such a brilliant product was delivered in very tight timescales." - Olivia Kelly, Experience Guildford
