Anuskha and Abi co-founded Plastfree when they were inspired to change to a plastic free lifestyle and found that one area that biodegradable alternatives didn’t measure up was period care. They decided this wasn’t good enough so they developed a biodegradable, totally plastic-free, comfortable and highly absorbent range of menstrual pads for people who have periods.
They came to us to produce an animated video to get their USP, brand identity and message out there. Our approach to the video from script to visual style was to be open, inclusive, fun and accessible for all, drilling down the messaging about plastic in period care whilst also empowering the people who use the products. We also wanted to incorporate photos into the animation, so that consumers could see that it was a tangible, physically available product.
The edit was designed with social media in mind, with lots of the key points from the voiceover appearing as on-screen text, so that the message could still get across to people who are watching on their mobile device in a public space. The shots were also designed to work as standalone graphics that could be used as images or micro-animations.
